[IM Department Announcement] Legislative Yuan Awards for Outstanding Master's and Doctoral Theses on Parliamentary Studies

The Legislative Yuan has established the "Guidelines for Subsidizing Outstanding Master's and Doctoral Theses on Parliamentary Studies" to encourage greater public understanding of the importance of parliamentary affairs and to promote academic research related to Taiwan's legislature.

Details:

1. Applicants who have obtained a master's or doctoral degree from a Ministry of Education-accredited public or private university in Taiwan during the current or previous academic year may apply, provided that their thesis is written in Chinese and focuses on topics related to Taiwan's legislature. Eligible topics include parliamentary institutions, functions, status, legislative procedures, parliamentary architecture, public-funded legislative assistants, and other related parliamentary issues.

2. As a general principle, awards will be granted annually to:

  • One outstanding doctoral thesis
  • Three outstanding master's theses

The Legislative Yuan reserves the right to adjust the number of awards based on budget availability, the number of submissions received, and the evaluation results.

3. Award amounts:

  • Doctoral Thesis: NT$100,000 (tax included)
  • Master's Thesis: NT$50,000 (tax included)

4. The annual application announcement will be published on the Legislative Yuan's official website in June. Applications will be accepted from July 1 to July 31 each year. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. The postmark date will serve as proof of submission.
